As you read through the topics of these two textbook series, ask yourself: “What is your main overall goal – to live in China or to be able to talk about China and its culture?” … and if the answer is “both”, then what should come first ?
So as you bear in mind your communicative needs as you settle into life in China and begin to make friends with Chinese people, ask yourself: What is the best order of study (both topics and vocabulary) to help you communicate on everyday topics more easily?
